Sugales Longbow School
Long before Knights roamed Cambria, there was little question that the Longbowmen of Cambria were the greatest archers in the Roman expanse. That they embraced the bow so greatly that they had cast aside proper training in other weapons caused lords and strategists to look at Cambria as foolish. When the Irish invaded Cambria, the defending people were not able to protect their lands with the Longbow alone, and were forced to retreat, making use of the vast forests and massive mountain ranges to wage geurilla warfare on the invading Irish. The Longbowmen were so successful in hit and run tactics, that the Irish invaders were left to conquer only the south-west of Cambria, naming the land Estregales.
The Sugales Longbow School is a successful attempt to bring the once famed Gales Longbow technique into use with the advancements of modern warfare. Though a very efficient and effective technique in modern times, it is frowned upon by honorable knights from more traditional schools. This is likely due to the Knight’s negative perception that the use of ranged weapons is neither noble nor honorable. The School is named Sugales for the southern people of Cambria, but in truth, it is vastly popular throughout all of Cambria. Knights of the Sugales Longbow School teach their Squires the aged old lessons of how to stringing and pulling the Longbow in conjunction with the lessons of aiming while wearing armor and finding weaknesses in armored enemies. The Sugales Longbow School’s weakness comes from being pressed into a melee by virtually any other Knight School.
Sugales LONGBOW SCHOOL [KNIGHT]

- Skills: Athletics, Defense, Archery (Longbow) 2, Dagger, any one Weapon Skill
- Honor: 3.5
- Outfit: Simple or Light Armor, Sturdy Clothing, Bow and 20 arrows, Dagger or Short Sword, Traveling Pack, 10 Gold
RANK 1: ALWAYS PREPARED
The Cambrian Longbowmen must be prepared to fight against his foes with little warning. You gain a bonus of +1k0 to the total of all attack rolls while using a bow. Additionally, you gain a bonus of +3 to your Initiative Score.
RANK 2: THE ARROW KNOWS IT’S MARK
A Cambrian Longbowman doesn’t have to aim, but simply allows the arrow to follow its own path. You gain one Free Raise that can only be used to make the Called Shot Maneuver. Additionally, you gain a bonus of +2k0 to the total of all damage rolls while using a bow.
RANK 3: QUICK DRAW ARCHERY
The Longbow technique teaches its students uncanny speed. You may make attacks as a Simple Action instead of a Complex Action when using a bow.
RANK 4: FLIGHT OF NO THOUGHT
A true archer is not concerned with the arrow, but is always ready to loose it. Once per skirmish, you may spend a Passion Point as a Complex Action to shoot an arrow that knows exactly where it must go. This attack ignores all effects of armor, as well as any penalties from Wound Ranks or visibility.
You may make Raises but you cannot perform the Extra Attack Maneuver for this attack. You may not shoot a target that is further than your bow’s normal range with this Technique.
RANK 5: THE ARCHER’S EYE
The final lesson of the Longbow Knight is that there is nothing that cannot be felled by a single arrow. You may make a ranged attack as a Complex Action to gain a bonus of +4k1 to the total of both the attack and damage rolls. You may not use this Technique in conjunction with FLIGHT OF NO THOUGHT.
